Good writing. Pakistan desperately needs reforms, we can’t simply stay afloat on rollovers from the world. We have something deep rotting in our governance system.

Honestly, this latest Hague ruling on the Indus Waters Treaty might be one of Pakistan’s most significant legal wins against India in years and it couldn’t have come at a more combustible time. India’s attempt to ghost the treaty was always sketchy, especially considering how foundational it’s been since the 60s (even surviving two wars). The Court basically said: “Nope, not how treaties work.”

Now, Pakistan’s got its tail up talking about resuming treaty enforcement, even warning that water cuts are a red line. With climate change turning every drop into a potential flashpoint, this is not just legal theatre it's existential.

Meanwhile, India is dealing with its own post-Sindoor drama. A Navy officer publicly calling out the political leadership for micromanaging the IAF? That’s a pretty big crack in the usual tightly controlled narrative. And while Pakistan's feeling confident (even a bit cocky with Jaish reopening facilities 😬), they risk overplaying their hand — FATF isn't exactly blind.

And then there’s China again swooping in with a $3.4B bailout that keeps Pakistan’s economy from flatlining, but also keeps it on Beijing’s economic leash. So yeah, tactical wins for Pakistan, but if they don’t play it smart, it’s just a shinier version of dependence and brinkmanship.

Water wars, proxy insurgencies, shadow diplomacy South Asia never sleeps.
